Our senior adult ministry is led by Robert Richardson and Lisa Hogg. We invite all members who are retired (even if they are not 65), and their spouses, to join us. We are a Fun Bunch. We meet the fourth Thursday of each month in the YAC except during the summer.
In carrying out our Church's mission as a grace place, the caring ministry expresses God's graciousness in the area of pastoral needs of our members. We are committed to making sure our elderly, homebound, nursing home residents, and sick, members are given adequate personal support and attention. This ministry provides for our Church family in the spirit of I Timothy 5:8, "But if anyone does not provide for his own, especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." This verse comes in the context of teaching that the Church Family should look after its members when the immediate family cannot.
The Caring Ministry seeks to connect the unconnected Senior Adult to Christ and to a Christian community where each can grow in full devotion to God. The ministry is designed to be a non-threatening environment where Christian senior adults will feel comfortable inviting their non-Christian senior adult friends.
A christ centered group that meets monthly for bible study, luncheon programs, fellowship and spiritual growth. STARS is an acronym for Still Thoroughly Active Retired Servants - First Pres members 50 and older. There is a bible study during the monthly meetings and there are fellowship events quarterly. STARS also plans occasional trips, from theater outings to cruises. Members assist the Caring Staff in seeing that the elderly, shut-ins, sick, and needy are given adequate support and attention.
