Be a Kid Again

In the gospel of Matthew, the disciples' priorities were turned on their head when Jesus taught that they must become like children to inherit the kingdom of heaven. How are we to become like children, however. Jesus makes it clear: we are to repent and convert from a self-idolatrous lifestyle, and imitate Christ by pursuing humility. Humility is gained by being aware of our own weaknesses and seeking help from God. Total dependence on God is vital for our spiritual health, and the essence of child-like faith.

Matthew 18:1-4 English Standard Version (ESV)

Who Is the Greatest?

18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
